The General Advisor of the Federation of Rectors of Russian and Arab Universities visited RSUH
On October 1, 2025, a meeting was held between Bashir Abbas Samaha, General Advisor of the Federation of Rectors of Russian and Arab Universities, and Vera Ivanovna Zabotkina, Acting Vice-Rector for International Cooperation.
The meeting was organized by the University's International Russian-Arab Center and the Club of Young Orientalists and Africanists.
In her welcoming remarks, Vera Zabotkina noted the importance of developing the university's international ties with Middle Eastern countries. Bashir Samaha, in turn, spoke about the activities of the Association of Arab Universities and the Federation of Rectors, as well as promising areas of cooperation between the Association and RSUH. This collaboration opens up new opportunities in the areas of academic mobility, holding Arabic language Olympiads and testing, and organizing student internships at universities in the Middle East.
Mr. Samaha noted the richness and antiquity of Russian culture. He noted that the Arab world also possesses a unique cultural heritage and values, which creates a solid foundation for dialogue and cooperation between the two sides.
Students from the Faculty of Oriental and African Studies at RSUH, who completed a summer internship at the Egyptian-Russian University, also spoke at the meeting. They shared their impressions of the highly organized internship and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to study among native Arabic speakers. Bashir Samaha emphasized the importance of academic mobility for students and discussed with them their wishes for future internships in various countries of the Arab world. At the end of the meeting, Farit Mubarakshevich Mukhametshin, Director of the University's International Russian-Arab Center, thanked Mr. Samaha for his visit and expressed hope for organizing regular meetings with Arab scholars at the Russian State University for the Humanities.
